ABOUT KENFREIGHT UGANDA Kenfreight is a pioneer in freight logistics and a company within the MSC Group acting as agent for MSC shipping line within the Great Lakes region. For more than 17 years, we have been providing our customers with logistics and forwarding solutions within the Great Lakes Region. We have our own as well as sub-contracted shunting trucks to ensure timely local pick-up of the cargo from the exporters' facilities and long haulage trucks for onward transit of the cargo containers from Kampala to Mombasa. We additionally arrange the customs house brokerage, shipping documentation and provide frequent updates on cargo traffic to satisfy the client's need of a one-stop-shop customer experience. We move our client's cargo by road, rail or air with flexibility to handle both FCL and LCL. We ensure that cargo pick-up and delivery is done at the right place, and at the right time. We thus ensure that; ? The most cost effective mode of transport is provided e.g. road, rail or airfreight ? We are partners to an extensive network of transport providers thus able to access over 300 trucks ? We constantly monitor the cargo traffic and send daily updates to the client on cargo status and position via e-mail ? Timely pick-up and delivery of containers from/to clients' premises is effected ? We maintain the shortest possible transit for container movement from Kampala to Mombasa Ocean transportation: We offer ocean freight services to meet all transportation needs. Kenfreight is proud to be the sole agent for Through Bill of lading cargo of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a world-wide leader in global container shipping. With our relationships in the region, we also offer ocean solutions on other shipping networks to meet the choice and preference of the customer. We can offer rate comparisons of various shipping lines to enable the best decision to be made on which ocean carrier to contract. Whether it be coffee, cotton, tobacco or household goods, we pride ourselves in offering high quality and timely services to our valuable clients at competitive prices. We thus ensure that; ? Clients' can access services from major ocean carriers that call the East African coast ? Clients' ocean carrier of choice is utilized and are able to negotiate competitive rates and terms ? Efficiency in shipping documentation especially for Bill of Lading preparation with nominated ocean carriers is achieved Inland Container Depot: ? Kenfreight was one of the first companies in Uganda to be licensed by the Uganda Customs Authority to operate its own Inland Container Depot, strategically located as a distribution hub which has storage capacity of 1,000 TEUs through put (twenty foot equivalent units) and a dedicated empty container management facility with over 800 TEUs capacity at Kakajjo, Bweyogerere. The ICD/Terminal has the following features; ? We have modern handling equipment for loading / unloading of containers from rail flats and chassis, container stacking and movement, cargo stuffing and de-stuffing.(two cranes and three forklifts) ? A fleet of over 60 trucks both for local shutting and cross boarder transport to all our major destinations with each doing at least 3 trips a month. ? With a high security perimeter wall, 24 hour security guards, surveillance (CCTV) cameras, rapid response units and night watch dogs, we ensure safe custody of our clients goods ? We have a resident Customs office with six URA officers at the ICD to facilitate all customs formalities and an airport office strategically located to handle all the airfreight cargoes. Customs and transit Clearance ? Our staff has extensive experience with document handling and management with up-to-date knowledge and awareness of local customs procedures and regulations to ensure quick release of cargo documents to enable smooth transit of the containers. They are also readily available to assist with the complexities of export documentation and customs declaration.
